Qualifications

To be successful in this position, the right candidate needs to be driven and have full mobility, adequate strength and exceptional customer service skills.  Other qualifications include:

  • A valid Class 1 license with experience driving a manual transmission, 10 speed or higher
  • A clean driving record
  • The ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Flexibility to work varied days and hours
  • 3 years of driving experience; highway driving experience considered an asset
  • Store delivery experience considered an asset
  • LCV certification considered an asset

Long Haul Drivers

Position Summary

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Driver will operate a truck to deliver petroleum products to customers. The incumbent is responsible for the safe, proper, and efficient completion of assigned duties and operation of his/her vehicle, within Company Policy. They will perform all job functions in a safe manner, including the use of PPE (personal protective equipment) as required and will report any unsafe acts when viewed or identified.

This is a seasonal position running until the end of March, 2017.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Loads and unloads truck with petroleum products adhering to all Company and Governmental regulations.
  • Operates truck according to Company policies and provincial/federal laws. Transports load over required route to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Chocks rear wheels of truck and trailer before any unloading takes place. Removes chocks before driving away from delivery.
  • Completes and submits all paperwork in compliance with established Company procedures.
  • Performs daily, weekly and monthly safety inspections on trucks, equipment and/or facilities as required by Company policy.
  • Maintains miscellaneous service duties such as checking, on a daily basis, oil, water, fuel, tires and tank related items.
  • Reports any equipment malfunctions and/or concerns to Supervisor and/or Dispatcher.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use loading arms and card readers at rack facilities and use spill kits and fire extinguisher.
  • Perform specific tasks as assigned by Supervisor and/or Dispatcher
  • Promote and support Company image standards, and provide courteous customer service to all stake holders.
  • Follow the work schedule as dispatched; be open to working shifts.
  • Stay familiar with the Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure the Supervisor and/or Dispatcher is made aware of any operating discrepancies.

TAG Logistics Corporation provides qualified driver personnel and transportation services to clients across Canada. We currently have the following positions available for a client in Acheson, Alberta .

Class 1 Single Highway Truck Drivers (5 positions)

We seek full-time Class One Tractor Trailer Drivers for transport of LTL and general freight to terminals throughout Western Canada. This is mostly a dock-to-dock operation that will include travel in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon Territory. You will be expected to travel in all weather conditions through prairie, hill and mountain environments. Depending on the destination, you may be expected to transport various trailer-combinations.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience that includes mountain and winter conditions;
  • Be able to drive at night (generally all loads depart between 1900 and 2300);
  • Be prepared to complete training that will include Classroom Courses, Mountain Qualification Training (with a Coach) and Long Combination Vehicle (LCV) Qualification Training;
  • Have less than 5 demerits on your Commercial Abstract; and
  • Pass a Criminal Record Search (will be conducted during interview at no cost).

  • Starting Mileage Rate of $0.5875 per mile (when hauling LCV) ($70,000 – 100,000 per year);
